Upper & Lower Endoscopy
Endoscopy allows the surgeon to examine your digestive track without surgery. An endoscope is a flexible tube that has a light and camera attached to it. The pictures will be viewed on a colour TV monitor. Sometimes endoscopy can be combined with ultrasound to gather more information about various parts of the digestive tract.
Upper Endoscopy
The endoscope is passed through the mouth and throat, into the oesophagus. The surgeon can view the oesophagus, the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine.
